Animal Sanctuary Caretaker

Rikki's Refuge no kill animal sanctuary needs two full time caretakers. 8-5, 5 days a week with either Monday and Friday off or Tuesday and Friday. You will be caring for 1,061 animals of 18 different species. Cats, dogs, sheep, goats, chickens, cows, etc. Mammals and birds, domestic and farm. No exotics or wildlife.

We are the largest cat facility on the planet, 600+ cats (so you better like cats!). The third largest sanctuary in the country (367 acres) and largest on the east coast. Orange County, Virginia, 90 miles sw of DC beltway in the beautiful Piedmont area of Virginia. Between Fredericksburg and Charlottesville.

This is not for the feint of heart. They bite, kick, scratch, horn, hoove, puke and poop. It's hard, dirty work but very fulfilling for the right person. Outstanding caretakers may move up into the medical field working in our hospital within just a few months.

To interview you'll work a full day along side our staff to see what it's really like. In all honesty, fewer than 1% of the people who try out can make it. Are you one of those ???

Volunteers are also needed any and every day.
